Relax. A few butterflies in the stomach are perfectly normal even for those of us named Mom or Dad.
Students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties return to school on Monday, and the feelings of excitement, anxiety and, in some cases, drowsiness will be palpable everywhere.
Miami-Dades public schools will open their doors to an expected 347,000 students, including roughly 50,000 who will attend some 128 charter schools. The district will transport more than 60,000 students on 1,300 buses, and provide 285,000 meals.
In Broward, more than 260,000 students will return to school including about 33,000 who attend charter schools. About 80,000 Broward students will travel on one of the districts 1,000 school buses. Broward expects to serve 40,000 breakfasts and 150,000 lunches.
And the weather is expected to cooperate, at least early in the day. But afternoon rain showers are possible, just as schools are letting out.
But try not to let it dampen your spirits.
