Two swimmers have died on Miami Beach after being pulled from the pounding waves Sunday afternoon.
Ocean Rescue guards dove in to save an elderly man and woman in the waters off 64th Street and Collins Avenue, according to Miami Beach Fire Rescue spokesman Adonis Garcia.
When they were brought ashore, both went into cardiac arrest, according to Adonis. They were rushed to Mount Sinai Medical Center where doctors were they were pronounced dead.
Police have not released the victims names.
Miami Beach Ocean Rescue said the surf conditions were rough on Sunday and warned bathers by flying red and purple flags.
