Redshirt freshman safety Jordan Davis engaged in his first contact drills of the fall. Davis, a two-star recruit out of Tampa Alonso, underwent knee surgery last year.
Hillard goes deep
Practice ended with an 11-on-11 situation drill. The offense had the ball at the 40 with 55 seconds left and no timeouts.
While the first team turned the ball over on downs in four plays against the first-team defense, second team sophomore quarterback E.J. Hilliard launched a long pass to fifth-year wide receiver Jairus Williams above two defenders for a final-play touchdown against the second-team defense. It was the fourth long pass completion of the day by Hilliard in team drills.
