Miami Hurricanes coach Al Golden concerned about mounting injuries on offensive line

Coach Al Golden expressed concern over the diminishing depth on his offensive line Wednesday.

Golden said freshman Hunter Knighton (6-5, 278 pounds) will miss the entire season following shoulder surgery, and backup guard Danny Isidora will be sidelined at least eight weeks after foot surgery. Also out — at least temporarily — are freshmen Sunny Odogwu (6-8, 318) and Alex Gall (6-5, 304).

Odogwu (knee) will be held out of practice for at least a few days, said Golden, adding that Odogwu’s MRI was negative. Gall “has an infection in his hand” following a spider bite, Golden said.

• Defensive lineman Jalen Grimble, who made just six tackles in two seasons after coming in as a highly touted recruit, asked for his release Monday night from the team, Golden said.

“There’s nothing [troublesome about his departure],” Golden said. “It’s just a situation where he wants to move forward. Sad to see him go, given our situation at defensive line.”

• Receiver Rashawn Scott and walk-on running back Brandon Yosha we wearing red noncontact jerseys at practice Wednesday. Safety Deon Bush and defensive lineman David Perry remained in yellow limited-contact jerseys.
