Police are investigating an incident at a Lauderhill apartment complex Wednesday where someone fired a shot into the air as tow truck drivers hauled a vehicle away.
No one was injured in the 3:30 p.m. incident, which comes a week after a Broward tow truck driver for All County was shot and killed by a man whose car he was towing.
Witnesses in the latest incident said someone fired a shot as Johnson Towing drivers hooked up a vehicle at the complex at 5231 NW 27th St. The towing company has a contract with the property management to remove unregistered vehicles, police said.
During the tow, the drivers said several men began to confront the drivers, yelling at them; that’s when one of them fired a shot into the air, police said.
The men then fled the scene. Police questioned several men but they were not able to identify any of them as the person who discharged a gun.
No casings were recovered at the scene, police said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Lauderhill police at 954-497-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
