Panthers move practice to escape the heat

Instead of practicing inside FIU Stadium, FIU went across the parking lot to a Tamiami Park football field. The heat discomfort factor was reduced, as the team wasn’t surrounded by empty metal stands and running on heat-holding artificial turf. But the uneven field made FIU coaches uneasy and the kickers couldn’t get any height on their placekicks.

PICKING THEIR SPOTS

Interceptions ruled the day. Junior Richard Leonard, redshirt junior Justin Halley, junior Demarkus Perkins and junior college transfer Randy Harvey all picked off passes, the first three from junior quarterback Jake Medlock.
