GAINESVILLE -- Redshirt junior Neiron Ball has emerged as a potential starter at inside linebacker.
Coach Will Muschamp noted the former unheralded pass rusher has been one of UFs defensive standouts in camp and said Ball has made a successful transition from strong-side to middle linebacker.
Hes been a nice find for us, Muschamp said. Hes been a guy whos played on the edge since Ive been here, but hes moved inside, and Im pleased with his progress.
According to Muschamp, Ball made one of the highlight plays during Saturdays scrimmage, blowing up a reverse and chasing down shifty wideout Solomon Patton.
Hes very athletic, Muschamp said. Hes shown his speed.
