TALLAHSASEE -- With their first preseason scrimmage scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, Florida State limited running backs James Wilder Jr. and Devonta Freeman on Tuesday afternoon.
After the practice, coach Jimbo Fisher said the reason for Wilder and Freemans blue no-contact jerseys was entirely precautionary. Fisher also added that Freeman (Miami Central) might be having the best fall practice of anyone on the team. Freeman led the Seminoles in rushing as a true freshman and finished 27 yards behind Chris Thompson for second on the team in 2012. He is expected to split carries with Wilder this season.
BENJAMIN SLIMS DOWN
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin hopes to carry his reputation as one of Florida States most dynamic practice players into the games on Saturday this season. The 6-5 receiver told reporters that he was slimmed down and in the best shape of his life.
After playing at around 248 pounds last season, Benjamin is down about 15 pounds to around 232 heading into this season.
