FIU’s Jake Medlock slims down



Quarterback Jake Medlock is down to 216 pounds from 230 to 233 pounds last year. He said he felt too heavy and just wanted to be fitter this season.

Although the slimmer Medlock might be faster, he will be asked to run less by design in FIU’s current West Coast offense as opposed to the spread-option offense FIU ran under the previous coaching staff.

Flaig arrival delayed

Coach Ron Turner said freshman offensive lineman Chris Flaig, a two-star signee from Vero Beach High, had “a health issue” and might join the team when classes begin or perhaps not until next semester.
