Demolition of former Miami Herald building underway


The demolition of the former Miami Herald building started Monday.

Front-end loaders brought down the porte-cochère of the vacated newspaper headquarters as new owner Genting, a Malaysian casino company, began removing non-structural elements on the waterfront property, a spokesman said.

Full demolition of the building is expected to happen later this year.
