FIU excited about new football commitments

FIU has picked up 15 verbal commitments for the 2014 recruiting class, which the coaching staff believes is the first group with which they can mold the roster to what they desire. Because the staff was hired less than a month before 2013 Signing Day, they had little chance to do that this year..

“I’m excited about it,” FIU coach Ron Turner said this week. “It’s developing into being a very good class. Guys are our first choices in a lot of situations. Obviously, or we wouldn’t have offered them. But they’re not only good players, [but] high character guys, they’re smart, smart football players.”

A Look Ahead

There was no practice Sunday. Monday will be the first two-practice day of training camp with sessions at 8:15 a.m. and 7:05 p.m., both open to the public.
