Miami Jai-Alai set to host boxing card; Strikers return for fall season home opener

The “Haitian Hitman” Azea Augustama (14-1, 9 KOs) will take on veteran Rayco Saunders in a 10-round light heavyweight bout in the main event of Saturday’s boxing card at Casino Miami Jai-Alai.

Also fighting Saturday will be Miami’s Jessy Cruz, who will take on Lamar Charlton in a six-round bantamweight bout. Hard-hitting Ahmed Elbiali will also fight Jerrod Caldwell. Former Olympian and member of the Cuban National Team Idel Torriente will make his professional debut against a fighter to be determined.

Ticket prices range from $15 general admission, to $25 ringside (right now available 2 for 1 on Groupon), and $75 VIP Ringside. To purchase tickets call the Casino Miami Jai-Alai at 305-633-6400.

Elsewhere

After a tough season-opening loss to the New York Cosmos, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (0-0-1, 0 points) are preparing for their home opener of their fall season. They will take on Minnesota United FC (0-0-1, 0 points) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium. Minnesota lost its home opener to the Spring Champions Atlanta Silverbacks at home 1-0.
