Offensive improvements

Though the defensive line might be the overall strongest unit on the team, and the offensive line the most questionable, the offense had its moments in working on the running game and red zone play Thursday.

Redshirt sophomore Shane Coleman broke a big cutback run coming out from inside the 10.

Junior transfer Anthon Samuel and freshman Alfonso Randolph rumbled into the end zone through healthy holes.

Still, the handoffs and center exchanges wound up on the ground several times, a factor of unfamiliarity among the ball handlers.

Up Next

FIU will practice Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. FIU coach Ron Turner said there will be no set scrimmage day during fall camp, but there will be scrimmages within practice days.

Turner didn’t definitively say whether or not full tackling would be included at any time.
