The driver of a car who was killed after crashing into a Davie Police cruiser Thursday was a minor, as were the two passengers injured in the accident, authorities said Friday.
Police have not released their names or ages because the case is still under investigation.
The passengers, a male and a female, remained at Memorial Regional Hospital late Friday afternoon, according to a Davie Police Department news release.
Davie Police Officer Aldo Tersigni, injured when their Toyota Corolla T-boned his cruiser, was released from the hospital Thursday night.
Police said the crash happened when the northbound Toyota tried to elude a traffic stop on the 4800 block of Davie Road at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday, swerving into the southbound lanes then back into the northbound lanes and hitting Tersigni’s cruiser, spinning it 180 degrees.
The crash shut down Davie Road between Stirling and Griffin roads during rush hour, keeping people who lived there from getting home.
Officers have urged anyone with information about the crash to call Davie Police traffic homicide investigator Mark Weissgerber at 954-693-8398.
