Cornerback Randy Harvey arrives at FIU

DNEAL@MIAMIHERALD.COM

Randy Harvey, a cornerback from Santa Rosa Junior College, joined the team for his first practice Tuesday. Harvey had three interceptions and 46 tackles in 10 games for Santa Rosa last year. Harvey originally came out of Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds High.

Kicker candidate

Freshman Austin Taylor had the best day on field goals of those vying for the wide-open kicker job. Taylor was 3 for 3, including makes from 36 and 42 yards.

• Perhaps the day’s most athletic catch was by tight end Cory White, a fifth-year senior transfer from the University of Miami. White got into two games in 2010, missed all of 2011 with a knee injury and didn’t play in 2012.
