Man, 18, found dead inside Lauderdale Lakes home

The Broward Sherriff’s Office is investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man found inside his Lauderdale Lakes home Monday afternoon.

Police said Stephen Rutty, 18, was discovered around 4 p.m. by his stepfather, who was coming from work to the home at 3760 NW 27 St.

Detectives were still investigating the homicide late Monday night and did not reveal the cause of death, said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.

Rutty lived at the home with his mother, uncle and his stepfather. His mother was the last to see him alive on Monday morning. She collapsed at the crime scene and was transported to a hospital.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Broward Sheriff’s Office at 954-765-4321 or Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-8477.
