Miami Beach Public Works worked Monday night to repair a water main break that left about 500 residences without water and opend a small sinkhole.
A yellow sports car was a casualty, having to be towed out after it was swallowed by the opening in the road.
The break happened on Crespi Boulevard between 84th and 85th streets in North Beach
The first sign of the break came Monday afternoon when the escaping water created the small sinkhole on Crespi, which briefly trapped a parked yellow sports car. The car had to be towed away.
No one was injured.
By Monday evening, a precautionary boil water notices were given to customers in residential buildings on the east side of Crespi Boulevard.
The repair was expected to take a few hours, and officials hoped to have it completed by midnight. Power also was restored to the neighborhood Tuesday morning.
Two cracks were found on the broken pipe, and water and infrastructure improvements were underway in the area, according to the city.
