Miami’s Top 5: What you should know Monday

 

1. South Florida set records for the wettest July in 45 years, and now August is off to a wet start as well with thunderstorms continuing into the workweek.

2. Northeast Miami-Dade saw a bloody morning, with the shooting death of a man in a motel parking lot and the shooting of a woman in a restaurant a few blocks away.

3. The Miami Dolphins are reviewing their preseason debut against the Dallas Cowboys and hit the practice field again on Tuesday.

4. Miami mass murderer John Ferguson is expected to be executed at 6 p.m. He was part of group of armed robbers that killed six people in 1977, and killed two Hialeah teens the next year.

5. Attempted murder charges are expected to be filed against a woman accused of holding her parents hostage in Coral Gables.
