Plantation man killed in Davie car crash

A Plantation man was killed early Saturday morning when his car smashed into a concrete barrier on State Road 84 in Davie.

Steven Michael Johnson, 42, was driving his Chevrolet Tahoe north on Davie Road at about 4:30 a.m. when he missed the left turn onto westbound SR-84 and hit a concrete barrier on the road’s northern shoulder, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Rescuers took him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

Johnson was not wearing his seatbelt.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
