Report: George Zimmerman pulled over in Texas traffic stop

Miami Herald Staff Report

George Zimmerman was stopped by police in Texas on Sunday for speeding, according to CBS in Texas.

Zimmerman, who told officers in Forney, east of Dallas, he was headed “nowhere in particular,” also revealed that he had a gun with him in his gray Honda pickup. The officer told Zimmerman to place the gun in the glove compartment while he made a criminal background check, according to the report.

The Sanford man, acquitted of murder in the shooting death of Miami Gardens teen Trayvon Martin, has kept a low profile since the highly publicized trial in July.

He previously made headlines after he helped pull a family of four out of an SUV that had rolled over in Sanford.

Zimmerman asked the officer if he recognized him from TV and the officer said no

Forney police told TMZ they gave Zimmerman a warning and sent him on his way with this advice: “Have a safe trip.”
