A man was arrested in Orlando Monday morning and charged in an accident on Interstate 95 last year that sent a Florida Highway Patrol trooper to the hospital.
Derek Adam Nelson, 34, was transported to the Orange County Jail and will be extradited to Broward.
FHP said on Dec. 28, Nelson was speeding on a northbound emergency lane on I-95 when he struck the vehicle of FHP Trooper Felecia Andrews who was sat inside as she investigated a crash just north of the Commercial Boulevard exit.
The impact pushed Andrew’s vehicle into the wall and the vehicles that were involved in the crash she was investigating.
Nelson was charged with felony reckless driving, driving under the influence and reckless driving.
Andrews is still recovering and has not returned to work.
