Concord Park is latest in county to get ‘Fitness Zone’

For the Miami Herald

A new ‘Fitness Zone’ opened at Concord Park on Wednesday, July 24. The park, located at 3301 SW 114th Ave. in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, has exercise equipment to accommodate as many visitors as possible, and even has equipment designed for people in wheelchairs. Wednesday’s opening marked the 11th installation of the free outdoor gyms by Miami-Dade Parks. Future ‘Fitness Zone’ sites include Blue Lakes Park and Goulds Park. Fitness courts are also planned for Gratigny Park, Tree Island Park and North Trail Park. Concord Park’s fitness zone was made possible by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in partnership with the Trust for Public Land’s Fitness Zone Program, the Health Foundation of South Florida, and the MetLife Foundation.
