A utility worker in Lauderhill was shocked Tuesday afternoon when lightning struck the crane he was operating.
Lauderhill Fire Rescue said the accident occurred at 3601 NW Fourth St. as the worker was installing utility poles and lightning struck.
At the time, the worker had his hand on the steering wheel and was jolted by electricity from the bolt.
The man, whose name has not been released, suffered severe burns and was transported to Broward General Medical Center.
His condition was unknown Tuesday night.
