My teenage son and I have made two fantastic trips to Islamorada to fish. We have had amazing times meeting the wonderfully hospitable people and experiencing the natural beauty of the Keys.
We decided to make this our annual tradition, one that I would one day hopefully be making with my future grandchildren. We’ve come to love Islamorada and even fancied ourselves as regulars at Island Grill, Ma’s and Lorelei’s.
Unfortunately the idea that we could be legally killed by anyone who felt threatened by us has made us realize that Florida isn’t a state that we would feel comfortable visiting again.
This also goes for trips my wife and I make to Miami to attend Art Basel. Until Florida suspends its “Stand your Ground” laws, we shall not return.
