I don’t know whether Emilio Gonzalez is responsible for such improvements, but a month ago my husband and I returned from Europe and were pleasantly surprised by the night-to-day airport changes.
The walk from the plane was long, but through a clean and well-lit corridor. Courteous tram drivers came by all the time, offering to give us a lift to the Border Control.
The lines there were long because so many international planes arrived at the same time. But they moved cheerfully and speedily along.
The officer at Immigration was quick, efficient and pleasant. At the carousel, we had help in finding our luggage among many look-alikes, and the Customs agent waved us through cheerfully, with a “Welcome!” If this keeps up, MIA will indeed become a world-class experience.
