A Taco Bell employee was robbed Monday morning while cleaning the Fort Lauderdale restaurant.

The armed robber, disguised in a mask and black clothing, approached the employee and demanded his belongings, according to Fort Lauderdale police. The employee complied and gave the robber his cellphone

Other employees saw what was going on and fled to call police.

Dozens of police cars converged on the area to set up a perimeter, in the 1800 block of Federal Highway, where they stopped cars as they looked for a suspect.

Police declined to release more information, including reports on the employee being tied up, citing an “ongoing investigation.”

This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available.
