Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s 2013-14 budget was disappointing. He disregarded the people’s voice. Not too long ago, more than 65 percent of those who voted supported the Pets’ Trust. It was a ray of hope that would save thousands of animals from being killed at the county shelter. It would also help solve our community’s overpopulation problem.
Just when we thought our voices were being heard, the mayor announces cuts to the budget for the Pets’ Trust. He has failed to uphold the democratic principles that our country is based upon by ignoring the voters’ mandate on the Pets’ Trust.
