Bicyclist killed in Coral Springs crash

A young woman was killed in a car crash while riding her bicycle in Coral Springs Friday afternoon.

Sarra Heike, 22, was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Malibu as she tried to cross University Drive near Northwest 25th Court on her bike just after 4 p.m., Coral Springs police told Miami Herald news partner WFOR CBS4.

Rescuers airlifted Heike to Broward Health North, but she died before they made it to the hospital.

The driver of the Malibu, 18-year-old Richard Barrow, stopped and waited for police. He was not hurt, police told CBS4.

Coral Springs police have asked anyone with information about the crash to call 954-346-1799.
