Hollywood Police search for gunman who shot, wounded 16-year-old

Police are searching for a gunman who shot and injured a teenager in a Hollywood neighborhood Friday evening.

Jacob Rivera, 16, was on Johnson Street just east of 66th Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. when a man with a T-shirt pulled over his face shot him in the head and ran, said Hollywood Police spokesman Pablo Vanegas.

Rivera was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Police questioned witnesses and looked for the shooter Friday evening, said Vanegas. They did not release a motive.

Rivera, a Hollywood resident, remained in critical condition at the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Police have asked anyone with information to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-967-4357 or Broward Crime at 954-493-8477.
