Sever racetrack mandate

Re the July 7 article Schemes abound at pari-mutuels: There is a solution for the dilemma at the dog tracks: Floridians, ask your state lawmakers to pass the greyhound decoupling bill that would allow the tracks to have the option of not running the dogs. It will sever or “decouple” the live-racing mandate.

In 2011 and again in 2012 we tried to get this bill passed. Florida lawmakers, let’s get this bill passed in 2014!

Last year, a non-binding straw ballot question was put to Miami-Dade voters that asked whether the county should raise property taxes to help fund enhanced animal services in our community. Voters strongly supported the question posed and the idea of saving pets’ lives. Unfortunately, the voters were given only one choice to make: raise taxes to provide for animal welfare or let the pets die. 1373581197

Instead of celebrating the triumph of a liberal and progressive movement in Egypt, the Obama administration and the media are not actively embracing this second revolution. 1373581197
