I don’t believe Kathleen Parker has ever let me down with her columns. Her work on the meteoric ascent of Texas Sen. Wendy Davis to America’s liberal pantheon of heroes is further evidence of her talent ( The sudden sainthood of Sen. Wendy Davis, July 5) .
What Parker is really pointing to is the increasing level of crudeness in our society.
There’s something terribly wrong in exalting victors in a debate over when it is proper to terminate life. This tells me how far this nation has gotten from Albert Schweitzer’s marvelous reverence for life: “I am life that wants to live surrounded by life that wants to live.”
