To help ward of flooding that may be caused by the impending tropical depression, both Hallandale Beach and Hollywood will offer sandbags to its residents.
Although the storm had been classified as Tropical Storm Chantal, it will likely be a depression by the time it hits South Florida Friday.
Hallandale Beach residents and property owners can get up to 10 bags of sand per property from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Public Works Department, 630 NW Second St.
Residents and property owners must provide proof of residency to obtain the sandbags. City staff will be available to assist residents in loading sandbags.
Hollywood residents and property owners in flood prone areas can pick up to 10 sandbags from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Public Works Yard, 1600 S. Park Road.
Proof of Hollywood residency is required.
