"PAL adds another tool to Project Lifesaver's search and rescue toolbox," said Gene Saunders, Founder and CEO of Project Lifesaver International, "our key objective, with the addition of PAL, is to continue to improve the safety, reliability, and reach, of search and rescue efforts for "At Risk" individuals who live in areas that do not offer the Project Lifesaver program."
Chief Saunders continues, "Our new approach, and the application of the PAL technology is the latest example of how our innovative program sets us apart from other organizations. We are delighted to be able to provide an effective tracking solution that will help to address the specific challenges of individual caregivers of 'At Risk' wanderers." The application of PAL technology will provide the much needed support and peace-of-mind to the families and caregivers of our nation's most vulnerable patients without putting an excessive drain on public safety budgets.
PAL is worn on the wrist and is the size, weight, and look of a digital sports watch. The transmitter component of the PAL tracking system includes a portable receiver which notifies the caregiver of a wandering event through the use of GSM & GPS technologies. If an "At Risk" individual wearing a PAL watch breaches the Geo-Fence the portable receiver will sound an audible alert. An LCD display will then flash red indicating your loved one has wandered from the Geo-Criteria you have set. PAL will generate an e-mail alert and send an SMS (text message) with the date and location of the wandering event.
Additionally, if the caregiver presses the "find" button on the portable receiver the PAL watch will determine the location of the individual and the address will be displayed on the portable receiver. If the "At Risk" individual wearing the PAL watch is lost and chooses to push the panic button on PAL watch the address will be shown on the portable receiver.
For the caregiver's convenience, PAL also includes an internet portal that is accessible worldwide from any PC or smart phone and allows for real time tracking with regular location updates. In the event of wandering, an update from the internet portal is sent as an e-mail alert and/or a text message to the caregiver.
Other PAL Watch/Transmitter Features Include:
- The watch band has a locking feature which can only be removed by using a tool provided with the PAL system.
- The watch is Water Resistant and Splash Proof. PAL should NOT be worn when swimming or bathing. Prolonged water contact should be avoided.
- It is advisable to keep PAL fully charged when not being used.
- PAL is constructed of durable materials and does not require maintenance except cleaning.
- PAL constantly monitors the status of the battery and will send an alert if the battery level is low.
