Miami robbers shoot man in stomach, toss his pants into the bay

Miami Herald Staff Report

A man was shot in the stomach early Tuesday, apparently robbed while he and his girlfriend sat near Biscayne Bay at Northeast 31st Street and Seventh Avenue.

A witness, Willie Troutman, told CBS4 that the man "was in pretty bad shape." He was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

According to early reports, two robbers approached, took his pants, tossed them in the water and shot him in the stomach. The woman went to a nearby Walgreens and cried out for help, and Troutman said he stayed with the couple until Miami police and fire-rescue arrived.

The robbers got away and police are asking for help in finding them.
