Human head found near 9th hole of Margate golf course

Divers found a human skull in a canal near the ninth hole of the Oriole Executive Golf Course in Margate on Monday.

The divers from Sullivan Electric and Pump were doing maintenance on an irrigation line when they found the skull and some trinkets in a clay pot about 10 to 15 feet below water.

The Margate Police Department is treating the scene like a homicide area until the investigation proves otherwise, according to a media release.

The skull was sent to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The race, sex and age of the skull are all unknown, along with whether or not it was used in religious ceremonies or was a result of a homicide, according to the release.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Margate Police Department or Detective Julio Fernandez at 954-972-7111.
