The Associated Press

Deputies are searching for a man who disappeared after jumping with friends into the water off a southwest Florida bridge.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says three young men jumped off the New Pass Bridge in Bonita Springs early Sunday for fun.

Two of the men, 23-year-old Cody Hilton and 27-year-old Eliseo Ruth Jr., were able to swim out of the water.

A third man, 23-year-old Jesse Ruth of Fort Myers, did not make it to shore.

Deputies and officers from several police and fire departments, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard and sheriff's aviation, dive team and marine units are assisting in the search.
