A homeless man was struck and killed by a train late Friday night at 2900 Sheridan St. in Hollywood.

The train's conductor told the Hollywood Police Department that the man was sitting on the tracks as the train approached. The train gave a warning signal but the man did not move, the conductor said.

Police spokeswoman Lt. Nikki Coffin said that the man had not been "positively" identified, but investigators are currently working to contact next of kin.

She said there were no details about the type of train, its cargo, where it was coming from, or its final destination.
