Springs got all the offense it would need in the first when Carlos Martin drew a walk to start the inning and Rey followed with a line drive double over the center fielder’s head.

After Gavin Gonzalez struck out, Colindres Jr. hit a little bloop infield single to load the bases with one out.

Michael Ogden then proceeded to issue three consecutive walks to Cardoso II, Eddie Vidal and Nathan Baumann to make it 3-0. Michael Rivera then bounced a grounder back to the pitcher but the force out throw at home could not be handled by the Homestead catcher and it was 4-0.

“We definitely struggled with the bats tonight and I didn’t pitch well but it’s all about teamwork and tonight we found a way to get it done as a team,” said Colindres Jr. who had two of Springs’ four hits. “Kendall is a great team but we think we’re pretty good too and we’ll be ready for them.”

If Springs is to pull the upset, they'll have to do it with mirrors as their top three arms will not be available on the mound. Both Cardoso II (66) and Colindres Jr. (49) threw too many pitches to be available on Sunday and Nicolas Regalado is out of town for the weekend.

"Maybe we'll get lucky and get a little rain," said Gonzalez-Pino referring to the fact that Regalado will be back in town on Monday and the other two would have the required rest to be able to pitch should the game get postponed to Monday. "But we won't count on that, we'll go with Carlos (Rey) to start and have Eddie (Vidal) ready to come in and we'll try and find a way to get it done. It should be exciting and I'm excited for our kids to have this opportunity."
