I usually read the Herald over breakfast. The July 1 article Going once, going twice ..., featuring an auctioneer posing behind two carved elephant tusks, was not what I needed to start my day.
I guess to some, elephants are just a natural resource to be exploited to satisfy the needs of superficial people for trinkets and status symbols, as well as a source of riches for those that sell their parts. Perhaps you should have included photos of the rotting carcass and the orphaned baby elephant. Your choice of photos was unfortunate. And no, I did not read the article.
