MLS suspends Salinas, Schallibaum; fines Olsen and TFC

The MLS Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday suspended San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Shea Salinas and Montreal Impact head coach Marco Schallibaum.

Salinas was handed a one-match ban and fined an undisclosed amount for elbowing Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane above the shoulders in the fifth minute of the 'Quakes 3-2 win over the Galaxy on June 29.

The Committee also issued a one-match ban to Schallibaum for entering the field of play in the 89th minute of his club's 4-3 loss to the Colorado Rapids at Saputo Stadium last Saturday. Impact assistant coach Philippe Eullaffroy was also suspended one match and fined after throwing the ball at Rapids midfielder Tony Cascio.

Additionally, the Committee has fined D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen $2,000 for public criticism of the officials following his team's 1-0 loss to Vancouver, and has also fined Toronto FC and coach Ryan Nelsen for the club's violation of the league's mass confrontation policy.

The violation occurred in the 78th minute of the June 29 game against Real Salt Lake during an altercation involving players from both teams.
