Chef Allen class spotlights July 25th Taste of Nation

Taste of the Nation South Florida, a first-time Miami-Dade and Broward collaboration, is set for July 25 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Chef Allen Susser, a longtime leader of the chefs’ hunger-fighting fundraiser, plans to whet appetites with a free cooking class at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Whole Foods Market, 6701 Red Rd., Coral Gables.

Susser’s menu will include watermelon gazpacho with tomato, bacon and Munster grilled cheese; Thai steak and mango salad with cilantro dressing and peach tartine with vanilla ice cream, rum and macadamia nuts. Space is limited, and reservations are required at 305-421-9421. Tickets for Taste of the Nation South Florida are $125, $250 VIP, at strength.org.

    Brasileiro, a Brazilian-fusion steakhouse and lounge, is set to open July 12 in the old Porcao space at the Four Ambassadors Suites Hotel,801 Brickell Bay Dr., Miami.
