The Associated Press

JUNE SALES: U.S. auto sales rose 9 percent over last June to 1.4 million. Sales in the first six months topped 7.8 million, the best first half since 2007.

HOT SELLERS: Pickup trucks are the strongest sellers right now, as small businesses replenish their fleets. Full-size pickup sales rose 24 percent in June. Small and subcompact car sales were also solid sellers, up 16 percent in June.

OUTLOOK: Analysts say the outlook for the rest of the year is strong. Low interest rates, wider credit availability and enticing new cars and trucks will all continue to fuel sales.
