Hey, that’s mine

Pharrell Williams wants a judge to rule that a trademark for his “I am OTHER” company is not infringing on Will.i.am’s “I AM” trademark. Pharrell filed legal papers in federal court in Manhattan. He’s seeking a declaratory judgment of non-infringement. The artists have been in dispute for the past several months over the issue. Will.i.am has owned the “I AM” trademark since 2001. He filed objections in March and May against Pharrell’s company, i am OTHER, that launched in 2010. Will.i.am uses “I AM” for his businesses, including his charity foundation I AM ANGEL. Pharrell’s i am OTHER produces the hit web series Awkward Black Girl. Confused yet?

Family tragedy

Stars are coming out to grieve for Pierce Brosnan, who lost his 42-year-old daughter Charlotte from ovarian cancer in London last week. The Irishman’s onetime Remington Steele co-star Stephanie Zimbalist wrote on Facebook: “Sad news to announce. Please join us in sending love, prayers and sympathy...”

Could a BRCA mutation gene test have saved her life? Her mother, Australian actress Cassandra Harris, died of the disease at age 41 in 1991, as did her own mother.

Charlotte’s father was Dermot Harris, brother of actor Richard. Brosnan adopted her and older brother Chris after their father died in 1986.

Oh, Canada

This is the second marriage for Lavigne, 28, whose ex is Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley; Kroeger, 38, has always been a bachelor.
