Miami-Dade police are investigating a police-involved shooting that left a man dead Saturday evening.
The incident began when officers responded to a call of a dispute at 16150 SW 197th Ave. around 9 p.m.
Officer confronted Marcial Martinez, about the dispute. Martinez apparently pulled out a knife on the officers, according to Maricel Maias, 62, who lives at the house where Martinez rented a room.
“A neighbor heard when the police told him to drop it, and it looks like he didn’t it,” Maias said.
Maias said Martinez worked in the fields of Southwest Miami Dade picking okra. He had just returned from a trip to Mexico, where he was born.
