Welding work on the top floor of the popular Forever 21 clothing store on Lincoln Road set off a rooftop fire Friday morning.
The store did not suffer major damage, but a power outage from the fire shut down business for the day. A “temporarily closed” sign was posted on the front door.
About 10 workers waited in the sun across from the store, but said they weren’t authorized to speak. District Manager Marina Ordonez eventually had them come inside and greeted customers at the door with, “We’ll open soon.”
No one was hurt in the fire, which broke out before 8:30 a.m. at 701 Lincoln Rd.
About 25 firefighters responded to the call and had the fire under control in about 15 minutes, said Miami Beach Fire Capt. Adonis Garcia.
They remained past 11 a.m., when Jenny Ramirez, who works at Pizza Rustica next door, arrived for work.
Fire investigators are still assessing the damage and cause.
