A woman who was ejected from a car, run over and left for dead, is in the hospital fighting for her life.

Mary L. Escobedo, 52, was riding in a dark-colored, dented and scratched Dodge Ram pickup truck Tuesday afternoon with a man, according to Miami police. The two were in the area of Northwest First Avenue and 10th Street when, for an unknown reason, Escobedo was ejected from the passenger-side door.

She fell into the street and the rear tire of the truck then ran over her.

The driver continued driving south on Northwest First Avenue and then east on 10th Street at a high speed.

Escobedo was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where she underwent surgery and remains in serious condition.

This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
