Tyson Gay (Lexington, Ky.) topped his 2013 world best time and recorded the 10th fastest time in history with his winning time of 9.75 seconds to win the men's 100-meter at the 2013 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held June 23 in Des Moines, Iowa. Meanwhile, Brianna Rollins (Miami, Fla.) set an American record with her time of 12.26 in the women's 100 and Michelle Carter (Dallas, Texas) broke the American shot put record with her throw of 20.24 meters.

WAMBACH BECOMES ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER

Abby Wambach (Rochester, N.Y.) became the top international scorer as she led the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team to a 5-0 victory against Korea Republic in an international friendly, held June 20 in Harrison, N.J. Wambach scored four goals in the first half to surpass Mia Hamm with a career and international high of 160 goals, while Lauren Cheney (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored the fifth goal in the 64th minute. The win gave the U.S. a two-game series sweep over Korea Republic, after Team USA posted a 4-1 win in game one on June 15.

ARCHERY

At the 2013 Flexor SoCal Showdown, held June 21-23 in Chula Vista, Calif., Tim Gillingham (Provo, Utah) and Jamie Van Natta (Toledo, Ohio) earned the gold medals in men's and women's compound, while Brady Ellison (Glendale, Ariz.) and Heather Koehl (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) clinched the championships in men's and women's recurve.

BASKETBALL

The U.S. Women's U-16 National Team claimed the gold medal with an 82-48 victory against Canada at the FIBA Americas U-16 Championship, held June 19-23 in Cancun, Mexico. The team started off strong with a 76-20 win over Brazil, then defeated Argentina, 98-28, Costa Rica, 106-19, and Mexico, 101-29, to clinch a spot in the final.

CANOE/KAYAK

Fabien Lefevre (Bethesda, Md.) won the bronze medal in the K1 with a time of 89.14 at the 2013 ICF Slalom World Cup No. 1, held June 21-23 in Cardiff, Wales.

EQUESTRIAN

The U.S. finished second at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup at the Rotterdam CSIO5*, held June 19-22 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Aboard Barron, the youngest rider, Lucy Davis (Los Angeles, Calif.), landed the team's only double clear and was awarded the Furusiyya Leading Rider of the Day Award during the first round.

FENCING

The U.S. women's foil team captured its eighth consecutive Pan American title after defeating Canada, 38-36, at the 2013 Pan American Zonal Championships, held June 16-21 in Cartagena, Colombia. The women's epee team defeated Brazil, 45-37, to capture gold, while the men's saber took the gold medal with a 45-41 win over Canada. Team USA dominated the tournament with a total of 20 medals.

FIELD HOCKEY

Team USA opened pool play at the IHF World League Semi-Final, held June 22-30 in London, with 1-0 and 2-1 losses to Argentina and Italy.

GYMNASTICS

2012 Olympian Sam Mikulak (Corona del Mar, Calif.) captured the gold medal on the horizontal bar and the bronze medal on the floor exercise at the 2013 FIG World Challenge Cup, held June 21-23 in Anadia, Portugal. Mikulak's near flawless routine earned him the top spot with a score of 15.27.

JUDO

Samantha Bleier (Colorado Springs, Colo.) highlighted the U.S. performance at the Pan American Open - held June 22-23 in San Salvador, El Salvador - capturing the gold medal in the 78 kg. division. Team USA came away from the tournament with eight total medals.

ROWING

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Eleanor Logan (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) captured the bronze medal in single sculls at the 2013 Samsung World Rowing Cup No. 2, held June 21-23 in Eton Dorney, Great Britain. Meanwhile, 2012 Paralympic bronze medalists Rob Jones (Lovettsville, Va.) and Oksana Masters (Louisville, Ky.) clinched the bronze medal in the trunk and arms mixed double sculls.
