•  SCORE BASICS: This free introductory session by SCORE Miami-Dade on how the organization can help your business is at 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday in a new location: Palmetto Bay Village Center, 18001 Old Cutler Road. More info: miamidade.score.org (under local workshops tab)

News of the past week: Miami-based CareCloud closed its Series B round for $20 million, bringing the healthcare technology company’s total funding to $44 million.

In sad news, tech visionary Edward Iacobucci, who co-founded Citrix and more recently VirtualWorks, passed away after a 16-month battle with cancer.

More than a dozen startups took part in a pair of special pitching events last Tuesday. At the Startup Battle hosted by Terrapinn’s Latin America Private Equity event at The LAB Miami, Kairos was victorious. Later that evening, at the MIT Enterprise Forum, iFavor took home the prizes.
