AT&T offers the fastest cellular service in the Miami area, though Verizon proved to be more reliable.
That’s the conclusion of a driving survey by PC Mag, which tested how various smart-phone services worked throughout the country. AT&T’s LTE service scored a 99 on PC Mag’s Mobile Speed Index in Miami, compared to a 91 for Verizon LTE. Verizon LTE took second place in the local rankings, but did edge AT&T in the category of web-page completions. AT&T hit 89 percent on web-page completions, compared to Verizon’s 99 percent.
But when the pages loaded, they loaded faster on an AT&T phone. This was the case nationally as well.
AT&T generally performed better than Verizon did nationwide when it comes to speed but Verizon scored higher on the reliability front. Wrote PC Mag of the South Florida results: “This is a repeating theme: AT&T scored with better speeds all around, but our Web page downloads stalled out slightly more often than on Verizon's somewhat more reliable LTE network.”
