Suspicious package under investigation in downtown Miami


Miami-Dade Police Departmen’s Bomb Squard is investigating a suspicious package discovered Friday morning on the north side of the Government Center.

As a precaution, the immediate area surrounding the Government Center at 111 NW First St., has been evacuated. Northwest Third Street, between Northwest First Avenue amd Northwest Second Avenue, are closed until further notice, said Miami-Dade Detective Javier Baez.

Once the area is deemed safe, it will be completely reopened to the public.

No further information is available as to the status of the package.
